Artist Statement

“The Trouble with Dames”…roaring 20’s, speakeasies, Billie Holiday, Greta Garbo era. This mysterious dame’s alibi hides in her smile. When this sketch hits the tabloids readers will ask, ‘Did she do it?”

Bio

Stephanie Sikora, a graduate of University Arizona Art Education and Gerontology, is embarking upon her second career as a sculptor. Interpreting both fictional and factual narrative, there’s always a story to tell and her medium is dictated by the story. She specializes in ceramic figures as well as one-of-a-kind papier mâché masks adorned with atypical medium-like colorful candy wrappers. Ongoing art classes at PCC is helping her to sharpen her technical art skills and challenge her perceptions.
