Creative Meetups were designed for you!

Open to all PaperWorks members, Meetups are collaborative learning groups where members come together to share and to explore an area of art.

Each meetup sets its own program, choses when and where to meet, and decides on the maximum number of participants. A member may belong to more than one group. New Creative Meetups are formed based on the interests of Members. If you are interested in a specific or general topic let the Meetup Chairperson know and a new Meetup may be formed.

All one needs to join is to have a Paperworks membership in good standing - that means dues are up-to-date - and a love for art and community! Just email the group contact person.

REMEMBER: If you are interested in a specific Creative Meetup and it is full, reach out to the contact person for that group and ask to be put on the waitlist.

Creative Meetups

  • Book Arts

    Book Arts members meet in person every month to explore the structure and content of handmade books. Through discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on projects, we create handmade books. Committed attendance each month gives us the ability to work on projects across several meetings.

    DATE: 2nd Monday of the month

  • Collage Montage

    Come join the fun and explore new collage techniques. You are encouraged to share the richness of what works for you in your artistic endeavors. We will create and play together.

    Membership is limited to 10 persons.

  • Fold, Glue, Sew 

    Fold, Glue, Sew meets in person monthly to make both the content and the structure of handmade books.  Hardcover, softcover, and folded book structures are included.  All levels of expertise in bookmaking are welcome.

  • Content Creation

    Making books by hand is fun but what to put inside them? In this guided monthly meetup we’ll help you turn your ideas into content for your books. We will do exercises to develop our ideas, sample bookmaking to build your tool box of bindings, and share the progress of our projects.

  • Handmade Books

    The making of handmade books is so popular that Handmade Books is Paperworks third book making Creative Meetup.  Handmade Books will focus on both the content and the structure of handmade books.  Hardcover, softcover, and folded book structures are included.  All levels of expertise in bookmaking are welcome.

  • Art Book Club

    Members read and discuss a book a month. Open to those interested in art history, artists and general artistic practices. Books are selected on a monthly basis.

  • Fabulous Folds: Bags, Boxes, and Cards

    Fabulous Folds will use folded paper to make gift bags, boxes, and gift cards in a variety of unique patterns and shapes.  Each person will create their version of the project.

    Date: 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Restarts Nov. 19

  • Slow Stitching

    This monthly, in-person group is a place to share, learn, and experiment with the wide variety of slow stitching techniques - from Japanese Shibori and Korean Bojagi, to both structured and freeform embroidery, to stitched collage on fabric and paper. Explore these meditative practices in the company of other creative stitchers.

  • Collage Creations

    This is a group where artists of all levels come together to explore the medium of collage.  This will be a relaxed environment where participants can work on their own collages while enjoying the company of fellow creatives.  While the co-leaders may offer prompts for inspiration, or brief tutorials, they won’t conduct formal “teaching” sessions.  They do welcome any member to share their expertise or demo a technique.

  • Junk Journaling

    Junk Journaling uses found and recycled materials as a way to collect and record a persons thoughts, memories, ideas and inspirations.

  • Bits and Pieces

    At this meetup we’ll come together to explore collage creations focused on selected themes, styles, genres, and formats. It will be exciting to see where this takes our artistic imagination

  • Sketchers

    Sketch onsite, in your home, or at a chosen venue and share ideas and projects. Open to those interested in improving their sketching skills, making travel journals, and painting diaries.
