Join David Owen Hastings as he delves into the intersection of nature, art, and quilting in his compelling lecture "Exploring Nature with Paper + Stitch." David will share insights from over two decades of creating and exhibiting stitched paper artwork. This session will cover:

  • The evolution of his artistic journey from gallery exhibitions to modern quilting.

  • Techniques for combining monotype-printed paper with stitching on vintage sewing machines.

  • The organic inspirations behind his work—nature, texture, and color.

  • Practical advice for artists and quilters looking to infuse natural elements into their craft.

David will also discuss his role as the 2020 President of the Seattle Modern Quilt Guild, exploring how modern quilting can be a canvas for personal expression inspired by the world around us.
