Peter Anderson

Artist Statement

Peter Anderson is a mixed-media artist based in Tubac, Arizona, whose work explores abstraction through experimentation, process, and discovery. Working with fine art papers, monoprinting, collage, graphite, paint, and drawing, he develops layered compositions that emerge from what he calls “initial conditions” rather than predetermined images. Paper is central to his practice—not simply as a surface, but as an active material that can be torn, assembled, printed, and transformed.

In 2027, Anderson will lead workshops introducing his experimental Rock/Paper/Scissors process at the Tubac Art Center (January), Sedona Arts Center (February), and The Lowe House in Tubac (spring), where he maintains his studio. The workshops encourage artists to use materials, chance, and observation as tools for discovering new visual directions rather than illustrating preconceived ideas.
