Artist Bio / Artist Statement: From the time I was a fine arts student at U.C.L.A., modern art has fascinated me. On visits to art museums and galleries, I have always found myself drawn to non-representational work. To this day it continues to inspire my painting style.

My current approach to abstract painting in acrylics and mixed media is loose, free, and playful. Layers of line direct the eye, while color evokes emotion, and shapes let the viewer interpret what they see. I enjoy experimenting with a variety of mark-making tools, such as pastels, crayons, and watercolor pencils. When starting a work, I am never sure of its evolution and outcome, which is always an exciting prospect for me, and I hope, an interesting experience for the viewer.

I have attended painting workshops with artists Mira White, Debora Stewart, and Julie Schumer in the U.S., and with Mike Snow in France.

Some of my influences as an artist include Joan Mitchell, Richard Diebenkorn, and Willem de Kooning.

I am a member of Paperworks as well as the Southern Arizona Arts Guild.
