My work expresses "big ideas," social, political or spiritual themes that have personal meaning and universal application -- an event that alters the relationship of people to each other or to their Creator, an idea that changed or challenged my outlook or attitude, or a shift in my understanding of the human/spiritual nature. In the past I created textile forms made of fabric that is transformed by various surface design techniques. Currently the Pslams are being done in pastel. I consider the meaning and content of the intended piece over a period of time, without focusing on the technical aspects of production. With a minimum of planning, only a few informal sketches and any necessary practice and technical experimentation, I rely on improvisation that is dependant on intuition, spontaneity, knowledge, skill, and inspiration, working simultaneously. I depend on the unconscious sources to become conscious during the creative process while manipulating visual ideas and materials.
