Artist Statement

Jackie Richards is a multimedia and process artist, excited to use many techniques to develop her work. She has a strong background of textile and fiber arts, and has had teaching studios in Connecticut and Florida. In recent years she has added ceramics and sculpture to build her images, incorporating paper and "mark-making" to carry her message. Jackie is a self-taught computer "nerd" and seeks new ways to incorporate digital designs and images into her art. She enjoys working with varied elements and themes with her most recent work revolving around the human body, and body parts. As she will tell you, her greatest enjoyment is attempting to do something she has not done before, and while that can set her up for failure, the pleasure she receives from a piece well executed is worth the journey.
