Artist Statement
Art for me began in my very early years and reflects the accumulation of various art experiences using oils, pastels, charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, even a little encaustic. Working with a press doing watercolor monotypes as early as 1980 (helping found Partners in Printmaking at DeCordova in Lincoln, MA) moved me toward the exciting unexpected. While this led to most of my work being expressionistic, my more realistic portraits, people, dogs, horses, and many miniature paintings in various shows and galleries have been popular, too. Influences included Gale Bennett in Giverny, France, King Coffin in Boston, and others in Washington, DC, Santa Fe, Palo Alto, Sedona, etc. Many techniques I developed are now used by others.
My work blends visual experiences from many different places. Movement, light, and flow characterize these interpretations.
