- Fantasia 34 1/4 X 25: Handmade Papers made from a combination of abaca, cabbage, agave, bok choy. Some dyes were used. Skewers are embedded in the layers of paper. The shapes and color choices present a mood of joy and celebration.
- Secret Wonderland, 30 X 26: Handmade papers made from a combination of abaca, agave, asparagus, cabbage and corn husk. Cold water dyes were used. Skewers, that were dipped in wet pulp and dried, are attached to the papers, adding depth to the composition. The viewer is invited to walk into the piece and listen for the musical sounds.
- Rustle, 24 X 27 1/2: Handmade paper, made with corn husk in its natural state, and some that was blended, plus abaca, cabbage, and bok choy. The title was inspired by the memory and sound of autumn leaves. The colors and textures provide such a very earthy quality, one can almost hear the "rustle" of fallen leaves.
Artist Statement
Fiber Art is my creative focus...handmade paper, creative stitchery, and weaving, the processes that involve the earthy, "soft and fuzzy" elements of the world and of being. My handmade papers are made from plant and vegetable fibers like abaca, cabbage, pumpkin, banana peel, agave.
My paper works are paper paintings, different from paintings on paper. Plant fibers are my palette. The paper is the piece. Titles of the works are only a means to encourage viewers to visit the piece and reflect on their own interpretation. Teaching people about these pleasures and discoveries is another exhilarating experience for me. It is a shared experience that touches each of us in immeasurable, personal ways, through the process of 'making' and becoming.
