Artist Statement
I have chosen to pursue the book “inside and out,” first as a Professor of English, then as a book worker and box maker. From early to late, I have been a weaver. I have most recently been drawing these pursuits into artists’ books of my own composition and design, writing and/or editing, printing, and binding them in my own handwoven fabrics with my own hand-decorated marbled and paste papers. Book workers are likely to be box and portfolio makers, and so am I, making portfolio boxes for writing cases and for manuscripts, as well as small decorated boxes for a variety of small treasures.
